About Singha
Singha is the Thai beverage brand operated by Boon Rawd Brewery, founded in 1933 by Phraya Bhirom Bhakdi (Boonrawd Sreshthaputra). The brewery launched its first Singha Soda Water in 1935, sourcing from artesian wells across Thailand and earning early endorsement from the Thai Royal Family (the royal Garuda symbol still appears on packaging). Today Singha holds the highest share of the Thai bottled water market and the number-one position in Thai soda water. The flavoured sparkling soda range (Pink Lemon, Yuzu, Ume, Lemon Lime) launched in the 2010s as Singha pushed into the non-alcoholic beverage market alongside its core beer business.

Who Singha is for
Mixer-quality soda water seekers: Singha Soda Water has been the gold-standard mixer for Thai cocktails since the 1930s and is widely considered one of the longest-lasting carbonated waters available. The bubbles hold for longer than standard supermarket soda water, making it suitable for cocktails and longer-drink applications.
Yuzu and ume fans: the Yuzu and Ume Plum variants are genuinely Japanese-Asian flavour profiles not stocked in UK supermarkets. Both are floral, distinctive and significantly different from Western citrus sodas. Pair with our Mogu Mogu Thai fruit drinks for a broader Asian drinks selection.
Zero-calorie drink shoppers: the plain Singha Soda Water is zero-calorie, suitable for calorie-restricted eating and works as a substitute for diet sodas. Pair with the broader imported drinks range for varied builds.
Thai food enthusiasts: Singha is the most-recognised Thai beverage brand and the natural pairing for Thai food at home. The flavoured sparkling sodas work especially well with spicy Thai dishes as a palate cleanser.

Singha soda water: frequently asked questions
Is Singha soda water the same brand as Singha beer?
Yes. Both Singha Soda Water and Singha Beer are produced by Boon Rawd Brewery in Thailand, founded in 1933 by Phraya Bhirom Bhakdi. Singha Beer was the first product (1933), Singha Soda Water followed in 1935. Both share the same Singha (mythical lion) branding and the royal Garuda endorsement on packaging. The soda water is non-alcoholic and works as a standalone drink or as a mixer for the beer and Thai cocktails.
What does "Singha" mean?
Singha (สิงห์ in Thai, pronounced "sing") is the Thai word for the mythical lion of Hindu and Buddhist mythology, a fierce guardian creature commonly depicted in Thai art and temple architecture. The brand uses the singha as its logo, paired with the royal Garuda symbol granted by King Rama VII in 1939 in recognition of the brewery's quality. The mythological lion connection gives the brand its distinctive heritage positioning.
What is yuzu and ume?
Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit, smaller than a grapefruit with a flavour profile combining lemon, mandarin and grapefruit notes. It's used extensively in Japanese cooking for its aromatic zest and juice. Ume is the Japanese plum (technically an apricot variety), commonly pickled or made into the alcoholic umeshu plum wine. The Singha Yuzu and Ume soda variants bring these Japanese flavour profiles into Thai sparkling soda format, neither of which appears in UK supermarket drink ranges.
Why does Singha soda water last longer than other soda waters?
Singha Soda Water has won bartender and mixology awards for its longer-lasting carbonation compared to standard supermarket soda waters. The brand attributes this to the deep artesian well water source (eight private wells across Thailand) and the carbonation process, which uses higher pressure than standard supermarket production. The result is smaller bubbles that hold their fizz longer in cocktails and longer drinks, making it the gold-standard mixer in Thai bartending.
