Perfect for
Sour candy fans bored of sweet gummies: if you find standard Haribo too sweet, the sour category gives you the same chewy format with the acid hit added.
Kids' parties and pick-and-mix: sour candy works as a contrast to sweet gummies in mixed selections. Sour Patch Kids and Tangfastics are reliable kids'-party picks.
Halal-keeping sour fans: Bebeto, Peelerz Halal and Shades by Niko give certified sour options in a category dominated by non-halal mainstream brands.
Challenge-eating and gift novelty: the hot-sour tier (Big Chewy Nerds Sour, Sour Patch Extreme) works as a novelty gift or social-media-challenge purchase.

Sour sweets UK: frequently asked questions
What's the sourest sweet you stock?
In our current catalogue, Big Chewy Nerds Sour, the sourest Bebeto variants and Sour Patch Kids Extreme (where stocked) sit at the hot-sour end. We don't currently stock the extreme-sour challenge brands like Toxic Waste, Warheads Extreme or Mega Warheads. If you're looking specifically for the most-extreme tier, specialist sour-candy retailers cover that niche.
What makes sour candy sour?
Food-grade acids: citric acid (the most common), malic acid (gives a sharper longer-lasting hit), tartaric acid and lactic acid. The acids are usually applied as a coating on the outside of the candy, which is why most sour candy delivers the sour hit first and then resolves to the sweet flavour underneath. Different brands use different acid blends to engineer their specific sour profile.
Are sour sweets bad for your teeth?
Sour candy is more erosive to tooth enamel than non-sour sweets, because the acid coating directly lowers mouth pH. The British Dental Association recommends limiting sour candy consumption and avoiding brushing teeth immediately after eating sour sweets (the enamel is temporarily softened by the acid, and brushing in that window can cause more wear). Wait around 30 to 60 minutes after eating sour candy before brushing.
Which sour sweets are halal certified?
The sour variants within Bebeto, Peelerz Halal and Shades by Niko Sour Ultimate Vibes are all halal certified. The mainstream sour brands (Sour Patch Kids, Haribo Tangfastics) are not formally halal certified. For the wider halal range see our halal sweets hub.
