About Ferrero
The Ferrero Group was founded in 1946 in Alba, Piedmont, Italy by Pietro Ferrero, originally as a small bakery business that pioneered hazelnut-cocoa spread (the predecessor to Nutella) as an affordable alternative to chocolate during post-war shortages. The company has stayed family-owned across three generations, growing into one of the world's largest confectionery groups. Beyond Ferrero Rocher and Raffaello, the parent group owns Nutella, Kinder, Tic Tac, Mon Cheri and (since 2018 acquisition) the Nestle US confectionery business including Butterfinger and Crunch. Ferrero is the only major chocolate group remaining family-owned.

Ingredients and allergens
Ferrero Rocher contains milk chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, milk powder, cocoa mass), hazelnuts (around 22-25%), sugar, palm oil, wheat flour, whey powder, low-fat cocoa, soy lecithin, raising agent, vanillin. Contains milk, hazelnuts, wheat (gluten) and soy as core allergens. Raffaello contains coconut, almonds and milk. Most Ferrero products are not vegan due to milk content. Not formally halal certified across the range (Mon Cheri contains alcohol). The hazelnut content makes the range unsuitable for tree-nut allergy sufferers. Always check the back of each individual box for the most accurate allergen and dietary information.
Who Ferrero is for
Gift box shoppers: Ferrero Rocher is one of the most-given gift chocolates globally, particularly for hosting, holidays and corporate gifting. The gold foil and presentation packaging make it culturally synonymous with "ambassador's party" gifting.
Premium hazelnut-chocolate fans: the hazelnut-and-chocolate combination is Ferrero's core flavour signature, also expressed through Nutella. Suits shoppers who prefer praline-style chocolate to plain milk or dark.
Italian chocolate enthusiasts: Ferrero is the most-recognised Italian chocolate brand internationally. Pair with our wider chocolate selection for varied premium chocolate builds.
Christmas and special occasion buyers: the range is particularly strong for Christmas, Mother's Day, Valentine's, weddings and other gift-giving occasions. The Collection assortment box works for variety in single-purchase gifts.

Ferrero: frequently asked questions
Is Ferrero Rocher made in Italy?
Ferrero Rocher production is global, with the Ferrero Group operating manufacturing plants in Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Canada, India, Argentina and other countries. The recipe and quality standards are consistent across plants. The brand's heritage and HQ remains in Alba, Piedmont, Italy where the Ferrero family founded the company in 1946. Look at the back of the box for the specific manufacturing origin.
What's inside a Ferrero Rocher?
A Ferrero Rocher has four layers from centre to outside: a whole hazelnut at the core, soft creamy hazelnut chocolate filling around it, a thin wafer shell, then milk chocolate coating studded with chopped hazelnut pieces, all wrapped in distinctive gold foil. The construction is intentionally engineered for textural contrast (creamy filling, crisp wafer, crunchy nut). Hazelnut content across the chocolate is around 22-25%.
Is Ferrero halal?
Ferrero Rocher, Raffaello and most chocolate products from the Ferrero Group are not formally halal-certified but contain no obviously haram ingredients in their core recipes. Mon Cheri contains cherry liqueur and so is not halal. Always check the back of each individual product for halal certification marks if certification is important for your purchase. For formally halal-certified chocolate options, see our wider halal range.
Are Ferrero Rocher suitable for tree nut allergies?
No. Ferrero Rocher contains whole hazelnuts at the centre and chopped hazelnuts through the coating, with around 22-25% hazelnut content overall. The brand's entire range (including Nutella, Kinder Hippo and others) contains hazelnuts as a core ingredient. Tree-nut allergy shoppers should avoid the Ferrero range entirely.
